Me and my friend did the go below extreme (adults only) experience. I knew it was going to be fun but the experience completely blew me away!

Our two guides were outstanding and couldn’t have made the experience any better. They were informative and read the group well, we were a fast paced fully abled group so they made sure the route matched our pace.

The ultimate extreme experience was challenging in places but don’t let this put you off, we were a group of mixed gender with mixed ages and ability and nobody came a cropper.

Being able to visit the “sleep below” site was an extra bonus! This is an experience you won’t get anywhere else.

My partner and I did the deep sleep experience. What an absolutely amazing experience, right from meeting in the carpark our guide Amanda put us immediately at ease, she answered all of our questions and did not once make us feel like we were asking stupid questions and explained everything clearly and in a way that dispelled any nerves. We began our 45 min walk to the hut to get kitted up, after that it was a short walk to the entrance of the mine. Once in the mine, Amanda made sure that we were all capable of using our safety lines to move along the areas that required clipping on. We then began our descent to deep sleep, during the descent Amanda treated us to the history of the mine and explained about how the miners lived and what life in the mine was like. During the abseil and zip line Amanda was great with the members of our group who were nervous and required a little more time and communication. When we got down to the deep sleep area, Janine was waiting for us to welcome us with welcomed warm drinks and a short time later our evening meal. We enjoyed some time mixing with he group as well as Amanda and Janine, once we felt tired we retired to our cabin which Janine had set the thermostat to 30°, we were recommend to turn the thermostat down once we got in which I would recommend everyone do as we didn't and we woke during the night too hot ? the beds were comfortable and there was enough bedding to keep you warm. Our morning began with some more hot drinks and a buffet breakfast then we set off for the surface. Our ascent began with the waterfall climb which was amazing followed by then following the mining shaft up to the surface. I cannot express how amazing this experience is and really recommend everyone give it a go!!! My partner and I wanted to do the whole thing all over again straight away. We will be back again for deep sleep but we are definitely going to try out the other experiences.

This is one of the best experiences in North Wales. The challenge experience is fantastic, and allows you to see parts of the countryside you would never experience.

The trip says accessible to all. This is not the case! You have to be able to walk about 6k along a single track uneven path uphill. Sounds simple but one member of our group could not manage the first hill and had to return. So you do need to be mobile, and have a basic degree of fitness.

It’s a fantastic family experience and the guides are superb.

The whole trip takes around 4 hours.
Wellies, harness and helmet are provided and I do recommend wearing g waterproof trousers before as I got soaked climbing the waterfall.

I will absolutely go back and do the more extreme trip, but this particular trip is enough to experience a mini zip wire,abseil, climb a waterfall and a little hill walking. The trip says you have a boat ride along a lake, this is quite funny
as it’s a trip along a tiny lake for about 20m but it’s all part of the experience. You leave the mine via ladder, it’s about 30m but you are clipped on, but again it requires you to be mobile and had some fitness.

It’s also fascinating to see how the minors worked and a very grounding experience.

Parking is free and you can grab a cuppa at the coffee shop before hand.

This is a superb experience and one you should absolutely do!

We did the Ultimate Extreme today and it certainly lived up to the hype. An absolutely fantastic day. The leaders were great, really helpful and informative. The day starts quite slow getting everyone through the first big activities, but then it really kicks in, and is constant fun. Plenty of effort required and not for the feint hearted at times. Great value for money. Was left nicely tired, but wanting a bit more, so the perfect time to finish. So it was good fun, well lead, good exercise, good value for money and you learned stuff too. Can't ask for more!

What a fantastic day out. Not a few seconds flying down a zip line for a lot of money, but a proper day out.
Via ferrata in a slate mine springs to mind, not for the faint hearted or timid but if you're wondering where to spend your hard earned money there is no better.
Our guides Amanda and Chris were brilliant very knowledgeable about the mines history which in itself is worth the trip and very good at keeping us all safe.
It's astonishing once you're inside and understand what people did to put slates on roofs, not just in the UK but all over the world.
All in all an absolutely superb adventure which I'd thoroughly recommend.

My partner and I did the Ultimate Xtreme and the Deep Sleep. I didn't bring my phone to the first half but it was the most incredible experience. The Deep Sleep was also warmer then expected. The staff were all amazing. 100% recommend you go!

Fantastic day yesterday spent 7 hours with a great group of folk in one of Wales' largest abandoned slate mines doing the Go Below Hero Xtreme trip

Climbing, scrambling, abseiling, crawling, descending, wading though flooded mines, ascending and zip lining about. At one point 1350ft underground.

Difficult to get a sense of scale of this place, it's enormous and some of the drops are massive, including abseils in pitch black

Highly recommend, it's not for the faint of heart but it's a hell of an experience.. the trip leaders Jason and Ben were fantastic throughout . And perfect in all weather.
