Nice enough but dated hotel. Privately owned. The layout is kinda weird as they kept adding buildings over the years. Rooms were updated over the years but not still look dated, especially the bathrooms. That said, the hotel is well taken care of, and very clean. ||Biggest downside for me was that the bathrooms do not have a fan. After you do your business, expect the bathroom to be out of commission for your partner (and maybe yourself) for a few hours. ||Parking is not great either, you have to weasel around oddly drawn parking spots to find yourself a spot.

Having missed my friends funeral after a cancelled flight I rebooked to visit her family. I booked here because it’s close to the airport for an early departure. I only had two nights and one day in Germany but I was thankful for this hotel. ||When I arrived I was greeted by a lovely man on reception who spoke to me in English well. He even knew my name before I said. | He explained how breakfast worked and even offered to book a taxi for my departure. He even poured my beer when I returned to the bar after checking in. All the staff were friendly. ||My room was large! Nice clean bath room, bed very large and plenty of storage with a large TV and sparking water. ||I slept well here. No noise not even being close to the airport. I could smell the breakfast in the hallway outside the room but that made me excited for it. ||Breakfast is a laminated ticket. If you don’t have breakfast you return the ticket and only pay for what you use. But WOW what a breakfast. So much choice, teas, coffees, juice, cereal, fruit, cold meats, cheese, eggs, roll mop fish, meatballs, burst sausages, bacon, pate, jams and a variety of bread and pastries. It was amazing. ||Location was good, 10 minute taxi to the airport. 10 minute walk to the tube underground. Close by was a local pub, a local supermarket and Lidl. The whole neighbourhood is quiet but quirky. ||I would happily stay here again as they made me feel at home and so welcome. Thank you for looking after me.

I was staying here for a business trip for a convention. The walls seems dramatically thin, making you hear just about everything going on in the rooms below, above and next to you as well as the hallways. Sleep became a rarity. Also worth mentioning that it is in very close vicinity to the airport, adding to the already extreme noise floor.|The rooms itself are okay. They're clean but nothing fancy given it's interior.|Hotel staff were very friendly and professional, so that's a plus. However, I absolutely won't be attending this hotel again!

I visited this hotel on a business trip and was also in 2 other rooms, which were much better than my own. My own room was outdated, old fashioned and repairs on the room were bad. Extremely noisy and you can hear everything through the walls. I had to get up at 5 AM, because of noise from the other rooms and the hallway. No aircondition and no coffee or tea in the room. My colleagues' rooms were much more modern and updated which would most likely affect my rating of the rooms, if I was in one of those. Decent location north of Hamburg and within walking distance of a few restaurants.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Engel in Hamburg and it exceeded all my expectations. The rooms were clean, cozy, and well-maintained, setting the stage for a comfortable stay.

The room lacked air conditioning, but opening the window proved sufficient for a comfortable atmosphere.

The pricing for both the accommodation and dining experiences was reasonable, presenting excellent value for money.

Overall, Hotel Engel offers a harmonious blend of comfort, culinary excellence, and closeness to nature. Whether you're in Hamburg for work or leisure, this hotel should be at the top of your list.

Very friendly staff on arrival, they spoke good English, gave us directions to the stadium we were seeing a concert at, gave us public transport directions that were spot on, the room was clean, bar was open at 0130am with friendly barman when we returned.
Its a little out of the way but there is an underground station about 750metres walk which did us okay,
The hotel doesn't look great from outside but our room was good and staff fantastic.

Stayed at this hotel for the 2nd time earlier this month and wanted to write a short review to recommend itt to anyone looking for a nice little establishment, centrally located near Hamburg Airport and local transportation. This hotel is clean, well appointed and is fairly priced. it's not the most luxurious hotel you will ever stay at but for us, it definitely served the purpose. The breakfast each morning was plentiful and well stocked and also has a very good restaurant located inside.
