Beautiful outdoor area with a nice little café. They have some great cake variety and a lovely garden with all kinds of herbs. Checking out the shop is also highly recommended as they have some of the best smelling soap bars I have ever seen (bought a lavender one for myself)

Such a shame!

When you drive 200 km to use your LWL ticket and than you find out that exactly today is some Gartenfest which you do nor care about, and than you find out you have to pay for the Fest to enter the museum. Uf...

I can not believe it that the management of this museum gave up the rights of their clients so that some Gartenfest people can earn on them. This is so sad that they prioritised money over the culture. There was for sure a way to organize that those few intersted only in the museum would be able to visit it.

And they organized it on the national holiday when people travel all over the country. The Gardenfest is for sure very local event. Could have been organized any other weekend.

Really sad.

P.S. There was only one nice person in the whole place, working in the store. Very glad to see there are still some nice people.

Good ambiance, places to visit especially during the fair end of August. You can see how iron was forged, forage medicinal plants, do woodcarving and buy stuff and finally enjoy a beer. During normal visiting hours you can still enjoy a beer, or have food, cake and coffee (favourite afternoon German pastime) in the restaurant. Walkabout is serene and nice and you can reach the place also by bike or walking
